Large supermarkets have launched various meat discount events to celebrate Yuk Yuk (Meat Meat) Day.

According to the industry on the 3rd, Emart will offer a 40% discount on premium Korean beef sirloin and striploin until the 6th. When paying with the event card, Korean beef sirloin is sold at 6,228 won, a 40% discount from the regular price of 10,380 won, and Korean beef striploin is sold at 7,128 won, a 40% discount from the regular price of 11,880 won. They have prepared 30 tons of Korean beef sirloin, which is six times the usual weekend quantity.
Lotte Mart is offering a 50% discount for one month on U.S. oxtail stew meat to L.POINT members. The versatile thinly sliced beef (500g) is on a 1+1 promotion until the 7th, providing two packs for 16,900 won. All 1+ grade Korean beef products and popular Marble Nine grilled meats are sold at a 40% discount. Fresh domestic pork and imported meat are also offered at affordable prices.
Homeplus offers up to a 40% discount on all Nonghyup Ansim Korean beef products when paying with the event card until the 7th. Online, discounts of up to 40% are available until the 6th, and up to 50% on the 7th. Domestic pork raised on grapes is discounted by 40% at large supermarkets and 30% online for My Homeplus members until the 4th. Canadian barley-fed pork belly is available at a 50% discount on the 5th and 6th.
A representative from the large supermarkets said, “We prepared the event to actively capture demand during the upcoming holiday weekend. By offering meat, one of the essential foods on the dining table, at up to half price, we hope to reduce customers’ shopping burdens and contribute to revitalizing domestic meat sales.”
