Producer Information Available for Verification
GS Retail announced on the 2nd that it has signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and will participate in the pilot project for the private sector's involvement in the Fishery Product Traceability System.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries operates the Fishery Product Traceability System to transparently disclose the distribution process of fishery products from the fishing grounds to the dining table, allowing consumers to purchase seafood with confidence. GS Retail provides traceability information such as the producer, production period, production location, and processing company of the fishery products.
Starting with salted mackerel this month, GS Retail plans to expand the number of products labeled with the Fishery Product Traceability System to about 10 types by the end of this year. To check the traceability information, consumers can scan the QR code attached to the product.
A GS Retail representative said, “We joined this pilot project for private sector participation in the Fishery Product Traceability System to deliver accurate information about the traceability of fishery products. We will carry out various activities to contribute to food safety and showcase excellent seafood.”
