Korean-Style Brandy with 40% Alcohol Content
Baesangmyeon Brewery announced on the 1st that it will newly present the Korean-style brandy ‘Omaerak40,’ which celebrates its 20th anniversary, in a glass bottle.
First launched in 2003, ‘Omaerak (烏梅樂)’ is a compound word combining ‘Omae,’ meaning roasted plum, and ‘Arak,’ meaning distilled liquor. It is a product made by distilling pears harvested in Gochang, Jeonbuk, brewing the liquor with roasted plums, and aging it in a temperature-controlled dark room. Because of this, despite its 40-degree alcohol content, it has a smooth throat feel and features the subtle aroma unique to plums. It is best enjoyed straight or chilled as a highball using ice and soda water according to your preference.
To commemorate this renewal release, Baesangmyeon Brewery is selling the ‘Omaerak Highball Set,’ consisting of one bottle of Omaerak40 (500mL), soda water, and one glass Slow Village On the Rocks glass made of glass material, until the end of this month. The ‘Omaerak Highball Set’ can be purchased on HomeSul.com for around 49,000 KRW.
A representative from Baesangmyeon Brewery said, “Omaerak, which has been steadily loved for the past 20 years, is now presented in a glass bottle so that consumers can enjoy it visually as well,” and added, “Following the trend of enjoying high-proof liquors such as brandy and whiskey, we expect consumer interest in ‘Omaerak40’ to gradually increase.”
