Regulatory Sandbox Rapid Confirmation
BMW Korea has become the first in the domestic automotive industry to receive rapid approval for a regulatory sandbox regarding remote vehicle diagnosis and action services.
This service allows real-time remote diagnosis of the vehicle, and if updates or software processing are possible, actions can be taken without visiting a service center.
BMW Korea will start services that do not affect vehicle operation, such as deleting warning lights, around July. The company began this service after receiving temporary approval for remote vehicle software upgrades in October 2021, the first in the domestic automotive industry. This feature, called BMW Remote Software Upgrade, allows the vehicle to receive the latest version of software through the embedded SIM card and update the vehicle software.
