‘Our Sound Captivating Buddhist Temples’ Kim Jeong-min Master Singer, 'Pansori 4 Barangs' Paris Performance Sold Out

Master Kim Jeong-min, who captivated Italian audiences last year with a full-length Pansori performance, once again took the European stage by presenting four Pansori performances in Paris, France.

Master Kim performed as a vocalist in the "Traditional Performance Series" program hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in France from the 16th to the 22nd (local time). The tickets for this performance sold out within a day of opening, demonstrating the French public's interest in Korean traditional music and Master Kim.

According to local officials, foreign audiences unfamiliar with Korean traditional music enjoyed the performance in a lively atmosphere, joining in with chuiimsae (encouraging shouts) and keeping rhythm during Master Kim's performance.

Master Kim said, "I have made great efforts to widely promote, preserve, and pass down our traditional music worldwide. Following Italy, the French audience's understanding, sincerity, and passion for our traditional music were so profound that it deeply moved me."

He added, "The reason I have dedicated 44 years to preserving Pansori is because I have faith in it. Fusion and new challenges are good, but tradition must be preserved," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Leonardo Cignieri Lombroso, the director who accompanied Master Kim throughout his schedule in France to film a Pansori documentary, commented, "Listening to Kim Jeong-min's Pansori is always enjoyable and fun, and the depth of his voice tone is truly exceptional. I want to let everyone know how fascinating and beautiful Pansori music is."
