Adjustment of Per Person Holding Limit to 1.5 Million Won
Special Discount (8%) Maintained Until Budget Is Exhausted
Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced that starting June 1, the use of Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificates will be restricted at merchants with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW, in accordance with the revised '2023 Local Love Gift Certificate Guidelines' (revised on February 22, 2023). Additionally, the maximum holding limit per person will be adjusted from the existing 2 million KRW to 1.5 million KRW.
Furthermore, when registering new merchants, a value-added tax standard certificate must be attached to verify the annual sales amount.
The city confirmed 208 merchants with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW after an objection period from the 11th to the 26th, and these merchants will be converted to policy-issued merchants.
The 208 merchants with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW include Hanaro Mart and Farmers Market operated by local agricultural, livestock, and fisheries cooperatives, agricultural and fisheries product distribution and sales companies, gas stations, hospitals, pharmacies, and supermarkets. The list can be checked on Suncheon City's website (Information by category → Life & Environment → Life Information).
A Suncheon City official stated, "This revision is a measure following changes in government guidelines, and Suncheon Sarang Gift Certificates can be used normally at merchants whose annual sales do not exceed 3 billion KRW."
He added, "As a reduction in gift certificate sales is expected, we plan to extend the special discount period (8%) throughout the entire period."
