'2023 Nanum Day' Event Held on the 31st
26,000 People Donated via Nanum Kiosk
About 26,000 people. 230 million KRW.
These are the number of Samsung Electronics employees who participated in the 'Month of Sharing' campaign held throughout May and the amount of money raised. Under Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who emphasizes the importance of social contribution and coexistence, employees are also practicing a culture of 'everyday giving.'
On the morning of the 31st, Samsung Electronics held the '2023 Sharing Day' event at the Samsung Electronics Suwon campus to conclude the 'Month of Sharing' campaign conducted in May in celebration of Family Month. The 'Month of Sharing' campaign, held for the first time this year, was organized to further activate the 'Sharing Kiosk' donations, which were first introduced at the Samsung Electronics Gumi campus in 2015 and have since expanded to all business sites, and to contribute to spreading a culture of individual donations in our society.

A total of about 26,000 Samsung Electronics employees participated in the campaign until the 30th. The total amount raised was 230 million KRW. This is 1.7 times higher than the average monthly number of participants, which is 15,000, and 2.7 times higher than the average monthly amount raised, which is 85 million KRW.
The funds were delivered to 20 children from families in crisis who urgently needed support. These children were selected in collaboration with Good Neighbors and Save the Children as those suffering from rare incurable diseases, severe disabilities, or facing difficulties as children from single-parent, unmarried mother, or multicultural families who urgently require assistance.
The mother of student Jeong Areum (pseudonym), who benefited from donations through the Sharing Kiosk, said, "After receiving a second cancer diagnosis, I once felt hopeless and desperate. Thanks to the help of Samsung employees, our child successfully underwent major surgery and is bravely undergoing chemotherapy. As a parent, I am deeply grateful. It has given us hope to stand up again."
The number of annual donors through the Sharing Kiosk increased more than sevenfold from about 5,000 in 2015 to about 38,000 in 2022. Last year, 13 employees participated in donations more than 1,000 times. Over the past eight years, donations totaling 2.64 billion KRW collected through domestic Sharing Kiosks have been delivered to 580 children in need.
Samsung Electronics plans to operate various programs aiming to spread a culture of everyday giving. In March, Chairman Lee Jae-yong took commemorative photos one by one with employees actively engaged in social contribution activities at the Samsung Electronics Smart City in Gumi, saying, "The kings of donation and volunteer work have gathered in one place," and expressed his gratitude with handwritten notes. Chairman Lee said, "I try to donate a lot anonymously here and there," adding, "The group that consistently manages donations is a foreign worker organization, and I hope an environment can be created where both foreign workers and children can live well together."
