On the 31st, Beyond Music announced, "we have secured an additional investment of approximately 200 billion KRW from Praxis Capital Partners (Praxis), a private equity fund (PEF) management firm." According to the data from the public-private joint network Startup Alliance, which announces monthly startup investment amounts, the largest investment secured this year before was 100 billion KRW in February by the design company 'District.' Beyond Music has surpassed a cumulative investment amount of 500 billion KRW.
Beyond Music holds numerous music IPs from famous singers spanning the 1990s to the 2010s, including Kim Hyun-sik, Jeon In-kwon, Lee Seung-chul, Lee So-ra, Ivy, Monday Kiz, Can, Park Hyo-shin, Sung Si-kyung, Younha, Davichi, T-ara, Brown Eyed Girls, IU, and Taeyeon. They have built a portfolio of over 27,000 songs. In November last year, they also secured music from global artists such as John Legend's "Never Break," Dua Lipa's "Garden," and OneRepublic's "Apologize."
Beyond Music is also focusing its capabilities on enhancing the value of its owned music IPs through remakes, SNS utilization, reappraisal based on specific seasons and issues, and active external partnerships. For example, Laboum's "Summer Night’s Dream" became a hidden hit on SNS, successfully climbing the charts. This song was also spotlighted again through MBC's "Hangout with Yoo," gaining attention. Seasonal songs like IU & HiPo's "Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms" receive much love from the public every year during the cherry blossom season.
A representative from Praxis Capital Partners said, “Considering the limited supply characteristic of the music IP industry, Beyond Music is a company with an unparalleled growth trajectory and potential, making it difficult for another company with such a large portfolio to emerge domestically.” Lee Jang-won, CEO of Beyond Music, stated, "Rather than the traditional rough-and-ready music IP valuation, we actively invest in acquiring excellent music IPs based on professional and rational standards, and by revitalizing the acquired music IPs healthily, we expect to become a more sound and active catalyst for creation and a market leader. Through this investment, we will grow beyond Korea’s largest to become Asia’s largest music IP investment and management company.”
