Available from June through the 'Cinema' feature
Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 31st that from June, online video streaming services (OTT) can be enjoyed through infotainment software updates. This includes audio streaming services such as Watcha, Wavve, and Podbbang.
The update will be supported via over-the-air (OTA) software updates for vehicles equipped with the premium 6th generation navigation or the next-generation infotainment systems, ccIC and ccNC.
After subscribing to ‘Streaming Plus’ in the connected car service application (app), users must select the ‘Cinema’ button on the navigation home menu and log in to their subscribed streaming service account. This feature can only be used when the vehicle is parked (in P mode).
The service subscription costs 7,700 KRW per month. However, through a promotion, 10,000 customers who subscribe to this plan will receive a ‘Wavve 1-month free subscription’.
For Podbbang, users can select ‘Podbbang Auto’ from the navigation menu screen or activate it by voice command saying, “Play Podbbang.” It plays without requiring login or ads.
After the update, no additional fees are required to use Melon and Genie Music. Previously, customers who had paid subscriptions for these streaming services had to pay an additional 3,300 KRW per month.
Additionally, natural soundtracks, scenic route searches, split-screen information for electric vehicle navigation (power consumption graph), and automatic Bluetooth audio switching features have been added.
A Hyundai Motor and Kia official stated, “Through this navigation software update, customers can enjoy a variety of content inside the car,” and added, “We will continue to develop new services and convenience features to provide customers with a convenient and safe travel experience.”
