GS25 announced on the 31st that it will expand the child meal card online payment system, first introduced nationwide in June last year, to the entire country starting June 1.

Convenience store GS25, operated by GS Retail, will apply the child meal card online payment system available through the exclusive application (app) 'Uri Dongnae GS' nationwide from June 1, becoming the first in the industry to do so.

After launching the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s child meal card (Kkum Namu Card) metropolitan area online payment system in partnership with Seoul City and Shinhan Card in June last year, GS25 expanded the system to Busan, Wonju, and Chuncheon regions in December last year, and this month, together with NH Nonghyup Bank, expanded the system nationwide.

With the online payment system established by GS25, services are now available in municipalities represented by Shinhan Card (Seoul, Busan, Chuncheon, Wonju) and municipalities represented by Nonghyup Bank (Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Daejeon, Ulsan, Jeju-do, excluding some municipalities).

The child meal online payment system was introduced by GS25 as the first nationwide system to address issues such as the burden of face-to-face use of child meal cards, which were introduced to provide proper meals to children at risk of food insecurity. It operates by allowing users to reserve and purchase desired food items through the 'Child Meal Reservation Order' menu within the app and then pick them up at a nearby GS25 convenience store at their preferred time.

GS25 explained that the 20% discount benefit on products purchased using the child meal online payment system has received great response from customers. This month, the amount spent using the online payment system increased by approximately 517% compared to the initial introduction in June last year.

GS25 stated, "We are participating in various social projects for vulnerable groups, including supporting Seoul City’s parenting support project 'Mom and Dad Happiness Project,' the National Happiness Card (credit card method), child meal cards, sanitary products for adolescent girls, milk vouchers, snack vouchers, education office hope meal vouchers, and agricultural food vouchers, marking the first in the industry to collaborate on these initiatives."
