Gangnam Bedro Hospital announced on the 30th that it held the '2023 International Spine Symposium' in collaboration with L&K Biomed, a company specializing in spinal implants.
The symposium, held on the 26th at the seminar room of Gangnam Bedro Hospital, was organized as an international event for academic exchange on the latest techniques in spinal surgery, focusing on height-expandable cages. About 20 spinal specialists from Korea, including Yoon Kang-jun, CEO of Gangnam Bedro Hospital, Lee Chun-sung, Director of the Spine Center, as well as experts from Seoul National University Hospital, Asan Medical Center, Chung-Ang University Hospital, and overseas from the United States, Vietnam, and India, attended.
The seminar featured 10 presentations across two sessions, starting with Dr. Anthony Shin, an authority in spinal implants from the Louisiana State University Shreveport General Hospital in the U.S., introducing the 'MIS TLIF with Expandable Cage' surgical technique. It provided opportunities for various case discussions and broadened understanding of minimally invasive spinal endoscopy procedures and spinal deformities encountered in clinical practice. CEO Yoon shared surgical know-how that preserves ligaments and joints, which firmly protect the spine, through a presentation on bi-directional spinal endoscopic surgery.
Following this, bio-plasma deep-tech company Plasmap introduced the 'Development of Surface Activation Technology for Spinal Implants,' and L&K Biomed presented height-expandable cages including the world's first curved design optimized for both lumbar lateral and anterolateral fusion surgeries, 'ExcelFix-XTP,' and 'PassLock-TM,' which has expanded its market after receiving U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.
CEO Yoon stated, "This symposium was a meaningful occasion to share expertise and experience through various case discussions with spinal specialists from around the world who are concerned with spinal disease treatment," adding, "We will continue to hold regular events and pursue research activities to advance spinal treatment."
