Sister Jessica Announces Absence from Waist Treatment on SNS
Younger Sister Nelly Takes 1-Month Break... Returning to KPMG Next Month
The Korda sisters, a major draw for the LPGA, have been sidelined by injuries.
Jessica Korda (USA), the older sister, announced on her social media on the 29th (local time) that "due to a persistent back injury, I will not participate in any tournaments until fully recovered." Jessica explained, "Since last year, I have made great efforts to treat my painful back, but unfortunately, the pain has not subsided. Following medical advice, I have decided to pause tournament participation until I am completely healed and regain my health."
Jessica has competed in six tournaments this year but missed the cut twice and withdrew once. Her best finish was a tie for 18th at the LPGA Tour's DIO Implant LA Open. She has not specified a return date, effectively ending her season. Jessica debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2011 and has accumulated six career wins.
Earlier, the younger sister, Nelly Korda (USA), also paused her tour participation due to a back injury. Unlike Jessica, Nelly plans to take about a month off and return to the field starting with the major KPMG Women's PGA Championship on the 22nd of next month. Nelly joined the LPGA Tour in 2017 and has amassed eight career wins, including one major. In 2021, she won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and reached the world No. 1 ranking. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the world.
