Gyeonggi Province will hold an 'Environmental Education Week' event from July 1 to 3 at the Gyeonggi Sangsang Campus (Seodun-dong, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City) ahead of the 28th Environment Day (June 5).
Held under the theme 'My First Environmental Education Week for the Earth,' this event will feature workshops divided into five topics: forest, marine, early childhood, community, and carbon neutrality.
The Gyeonggi Environment and Energy Promotion Agency, Suwon Environmental Movement Federation, and Green Environment Support Center will participate and conduct seminars related to carbon neutrality and the climate crisis.
Additionally, the venue will operate a mobile air quality measurement vehicle, an energy storage system (ESS) truck, an Eco Longlong experience bus, and a marine environment mobile classroom bus.
To encourage citizen participation, Gyeonggi Province has prepared various hands-on programs such as making toothpaste squeezers using plastic, making wallets from milk cartons, creating mini smart farms, and making key rings using fabric scraps, along with a flea market for eco-friendly value consumption.
Cha Seong-su, Director of the Climate Environment and Energy Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "This Environmental Education Week is the first event held since Gyeonggi Province was selected as an Environmental Education City last October," adding, "We hope it becomes a place for communication among environmentalists and an opportunity for everyone to enjoy sharing environmental education."
