Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the pet culture festival "Happy with Yongin City and Pets" at the City Hall Sky Plaza on the 10th of next month.

Yongin City hosts an annual pet culture festival so that citizens can gather with their pets, enjoy various experiences, and learn pet etiquette culture that considers neighbors.

This event is hosted by Yongin City and organized by the Gyeonggi-do Veterinary Association.

The main events include the Doggy Health Running Contest and the so-called "Wait" mission, a Doggy Manners Sports Day where participants can show off perfect harmony with their dogs.

Yongin City will also hold talk concerts on various topics such as pet health, behavioral correction, and training methods. Veterinarian Jinwon Cha and Professor Woongjong Lee from Yeonam University, well known from TV programs, will take the stage.

To allow the festival’s main characters, the pets, to run and play freely, Yongin City will place large and small playgrounds in the center of the event site and set up various experience booths for animal health and nutrition counseling, as well as behavioral correction.

These include a pet culture school booth that provides education on the Animal Protection Act, pet etiquette, and basic education by life cycle, as well as booths for making handmade snacks for animals, caricature drawing, and dog behavior counseling.

Yongin City will especially open an adoption booth for abandoned animals under protection at the Animal Protection Center to help find new families through an adoption event.

A Yongin City official said, "As more pet owners regard their pets as family members, the importance of pet etiquette culture that considers neighbors is highlighted," and added, "We ask many citizens to participate in the festival prepared to help learn pet etiquette through various experiences and to spread a mature pet culture."
