Pop Diva Celine Dion Cancels World Tour Entirely Due to Health Decline

Suffering from a Rare Disease Causing Muscle Cramps Even from Car Horns
"Sorry to Disappoint... I Won't Give Up"

Canadian pop diva Celine Dion (55), who sang the theme song for the movie 'Titanic,' has canceled all her world tour dates due to health deterioration.

The tour organizers announced on the 25th (local time), "With great disappointment, we are canceling all remaining world tour dates for Celine Dion in 2023 and 2024." They added, "Dion has been diagnosed with an illness that prevents her from performing and has been undergoing continuous treatment."

On the 26th, Dion herself posted on Twitter, "I am so sorry to disappoint you all once again," adding, "My heart hurts too, but canceling everything until I am truly ready to be on stage is the best decision." She also said, "I will not give up" and "I want to see you all again as soon as possible."

Originally, Dion was scheduled to perform in more than 15 European countries including the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Germany, and the United Kingdom during her 2023-2024 world tour.

Earlier, in December last year, Dion revealed that she is suffering from a rare neurological disorder called Stiff-Person Syndrome (SPS). On social media, she stated, "I was recently diagnosed with a very rare disease that affects one in a million people," and "I have only now realized that this illness causes all my muscle spasms." She further explained the disease, saying, "Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of daily life," and "Sometimes it makes walking difficult and even prevents me from using my vocal cords to sing."

Fighting a Rare Disease Causing Muscle Stiffness... Singing is Difficult

SPS causes muscle stiffness that makes the body rigid and triggers muscle spasms in response to sound, touch, or emotional stimuli. Patients with this disease may experience difficulties walking or moving, and even car horns and street noise can cause spasms severe enough to cause falls.

Dion confessed, "I am working hard every day with a sports medicine therapist to regain my strength and performance ability, but I have to admit that the process is a struggle." The BBC reported, "SPS is an incurable disease with no treatment, but anti-anxiety drugs and muscle relaxants can slow its progression."

Dion has won five Grammy Awards and two Academy Awards for numerous hit songs including 'My Heart Will Go On,' the theme song of 'Titanic,' as well as 'The Power of Love' and 'All By Myself.'
