Democratic Party's "Fukushima Contaminated Water 'Rumor Propaganda'"

The ruling party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea on the 27th, saying they have started 'spreading rumors' regarding the issue of the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

Kim Min-su, spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the same day, "The Group of Seven (G7) issued a joint statement respecting the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) judgment that the 'discharge of contaminated water' poses no problem," adding, "The Democratic Party is making the international community a laughingstock by spreading 'rumors' instead of relying on 'science.'"

Kim pointed out, "Before the results of the IAEA safety verification involving domestic experts and the on-site inspection by the South Korean inspection team were even released, the Democratic Party took an unconditional opposition stance and is fully committed to spreading rumors and causing public anxiety."

He continued, "By inciting anti-Japanese sentiment through rumor-mongering, the Democratic Party aims to divert public attention from the 'money envelope' scandal at the 'Jjeondangdaehoe' and the Kim Nam-guk coin incident to the Fukushima contaminated water issue."

He added, "No one will continue to believe the lies of the boy who cried wolf," urging, "The Democratic Party should immediately stop the rumor politics that shame the public and seek ways to overcome the crisis through self-reflection and apology."
