Why did the employees of Busan Port Authority (BPA) stop working and go grocery shopping?
On the 26th, BPA conducted the 'Local Children Traditional Market Experience Program' together with the Dong-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Busan to revitalize traditional markets and promote a culture of donation.
BPA and the welfare center planned for BPA employees and local children to purchase ingredients at a traditional market, cook together, and then donate the food.
Busan Port Authority employees are shopping at a traditional market with children from Dong-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
Eight BPA employees paired one-on-one with eight children visited the Sujeong Market in Dong-gu, Busan. With the help of the employees, the children checked the prices of items and used Onnuri gift certificates to directly purchase vegetables and fruits.
They took the purchased ingredients to the Dong-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, where they made fruit salads and prepared fruit packages. Then, they donated the food to the 'BPA Hope Pantry Branch No. 5,' a sharing refrigerator installed at the Jung-gu Jungang-dong Community Center.
The entire process of the children exploring the traditional market, purchasing ingredients, cooking, and donating was recorded on video. This program is scheduled to be released in June on the Dong-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Busan Port Authority's official YouTube channels.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, "The traditional market shopping event will contribute to children's economic education and the revitalization of traditional markets, while also helping to spread a culture of donation. BPA plans to continue promoting win-win programs in cooperation with the local community."
