The Shinan Solar Power Industry Association consists of 9 power generation companies (Top Sun, Bigeum Resident Solar Power Generation, SK E&S, KCH, SMRE, Bitsolar Energy, Top Solar) and 5 general member companies (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Top Infra, etc.).
They were formed to promote the activation of the solar power industry by revitalizing related industries in line with the government's renewable energy expansion policy to respond to climate change and Shinan-gun's solar power industry promotion policy, aiming to create jobs, foster regional development, secure resident acceptance, and establish a mutual cooperation system.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Our county is the optimal location for creating large-scale solar power complexes utilizing salt fields and reclaimed farmland due to its superior sunlight hours and affordable land prices compared to other regions,” adding, “We will do our best to implement resident income policies using shared assets such as sunlight and wind.”
Meanwhile, Shinan-gun contributes to residents' income by paying sunlight and wind pensions through a renewable energy development profit-sharing system. On the 3rd, it became the first in the nation to provide about 2,000 local children under 18 years old, who were excluded from the sunlight pension, with a ‘Sunlight Child Allowance’ of 400,000 KRW each (200,000 KRW in the first and second half of the year), making multifaceted efforts to improve awareness of renewable energy and expand basic income.
