Korea Racing Authority Let's Run Park Busan·Gyeongnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gimhae City Hall and Gangseo District Office of Busan to address regional issues.
So far, Let's Run Park Busan·Gyeongnam has been promoting projects that provide practical help to local residents' lives and contribute to regional development.
Since 2020, it has participated in regional problem-solving platforms to enhance the effectiveness of social contribution projects and has strived to fulfill social value and responsibility as a public enterprise when implementing individual projects.
This year, to expand local residents' interest and participation and strengthen collaboration with problem-solving entities, seven projects have been established in two areas, Gimhae and Gangseo District of Busan, with a project budget of 120 million KRW.
In Gimhae City, the projects include ▲technical education and employment support for foreign residents to create jobs ▲support for village enterprises and job creation to revitalize the deteriorated old downtown ▲education support such as acquiring certifications to help socially vulnerable residents in the old downtown enter society ▲music education projects for marginalized vulnerable groups to reduce cultural and artistic education gaps.
In Gangseo District, Busan, the projects include ▲support for leisure activities for unregistered senior citizen centers to establish a social safety net ▲support for housing and cultural welfare for marginalized residents in the old downtown to resolve imbalances ▲carbon neutrality practice projects through recycling initiatives.
This project selected seven support projects through expert consulting and review from proposals received from civic groups, welfare centers, and local communities as well as general residents.
Before signing the MOU, proposals for problem-solving tasks were solicited from early this year to create an environment where local residents can directly participate in solving regional issues. Communication with the private sector continued even after the call for proposals to resolve problems.
Song Daeyoung, Head of Busan·Gyeongnam Region at Korea Racing Authority, said, "We will continue to pay attention to local social issues, discover cooperative projects with various entities, and continuously promote them."
