WCE is the largest domestic climate and energy event that integrates the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Energy Industry Expo and Carbon Neutral Expo, the Ministry of Environment's Global Green Hub Korea, and Busan City's International Environmental Energy Industry Exhibition, which were held separately until last year. WCE is organized into sections such as ▲Carbon Neutrality Hall ▲Clean Energy Hall ▲Energy Efficiency Hall ▲Future Mobility Hall.
At the WCE Carbon Neutrality Hall, Lotte operates the 'Lotte Group Pavilion' with participation from 19 companies including Lotte Holdings, Lotte Chemical, Lotte Department Store, Lotte Wellfood, Hotel Lotte, and Lotte Construction. The Lotte Group Pavilion presents the vision of 'Net Zero City Busan' advancing toward carbon neutrality based on Lotte's six core carbon reduction activities: renewable energy transition, carbon capture, energy efficiency improvement, hydrogen energy, fuel switching, and zero-emission vehicle transition. Through this, they plan to demonstrate Busan's capability to host the 2030 World Expo.
Visitors can explore the future businesses of Lotte affiliates aimed at realizing carbon neutrality through the Lotte Group Pavilion. The pavilion features a metaverse and autonomous shuttle by Lotte Information & Communication, leading eco-friendly shopping and smart mobility, as well as an electric vehicle charging platform experience zone. The hydrogen energy business and battery material technology, nurtured as future growth engines by Lotte's chemical group, are also presented through models and videos for easy understanding. Additionally, Lotte Chemical's domestic first carbon capture technology using gas separation membranes, Lotte Fine Chemical's ammonia thermal decomposition technology, and Lotte Construction's eco-friendly concrete technology that reduces carbon emissions by up to 90% are introduced.
Lotte also showcased its resource circulation activities. Lotte affiliates encourage customers to practice carbon neutrality in daily life through eco-friendly product introductions and green campaigns. Distribution affiliates such as Lotte Mart and Lotte Duty Free have adopted recyclable eco-friendly packaging, and Lotte Chilsung Beverage offers various label-free products. The plastic circular economy activities are explained through 'Project Loop,' Lotte Chemical's plastic circular project products, and recycling cases of PET bottles and waste banners from various affiliates. Green campaigns for environmental improvement, such as Lotte Distribution's 'RE:EARTH' and Lotte Chilsung Beverage's 'ReGreen,' are also introduced.
Staff at the Lotte Group Pavilion wear Lotte Giants uniforms marked with Busan Expo 2030 to promote the charm of 'Gudo' Busan to visitors and raise interest in hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo. Since last year, the Lotte Giants have been participating in carbon neutrality by wearing eco-friendly uniforms made from recycled plastic materials through Lotte Chemical's 'Project Loop.'
