Activation of New Industries Through Participation of Various Partner Companies

The first demonstration event showcasing the domestic debut of the Ieum 5G convergence service at a construction site was held. Following Naver Cloud, the first Ieum 5G operator in Korea, establishing the Ieum 5G network at Naver's new headquarters in 2021, it has now developed Ieum 5G-based services that can be utilized at construction sites.

On the 25th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced, "On the 24th, a demonstration event for Ieum 5G was held with stakeholders including Naver Cloud and Hoban Construction." The demonstration took place at the construction site of 'Hwaseong Bibong B2 Hoban Summit Apartments,' which covers approximately 40,000 square meters. The Ministry supplied frequencies through its Practical Test Station, and Naver Cloud established Ieum 5G connectivity for safety vests capable of video calls, high-definition video cameras, drones, and concrete curing (heat of hydration) sensors. This enabled real-time integrated control, which is expected to contribute to preventing major accidents and improving work efficiency.

Naver Cloud plans to create a new market based on Ieum 5G in the construction sector and to discover and expand Ieum 5G service cases applicable to industrial sites with wide areas and poor communication environments, such as heavy industry facilities. Participating partners in this demonstration included BnB Innovation (safety vests), Hyperwall (video cameras), Argosdyne (drones), Nable Communications (sensors and monitoring), Teamwork (site management solutions), and Namu ICT (x86 server supply). It is anticipated that the Ieum 5G-based innovative convergence services will help revitalize new industries.

Jung Jae-hoon, Director of Radio Policy Planning at the Ministry of Science and ICT, who attended the demonstration event, stated, “This was a meaningful site where Ieum 5G convergence services began to be applied and expanded into new fields,” adding, “We will communicate with industrial sites and actively support them so that Ieum 5G becomes a driving force for innovation supporting digital transformation across various industrial sectors.”
