Concerns Over Nuclear Plant Contaminated Water, Kim Dae-gi Says "Surveyed About 90 Coastal Sites... No Issues Found"

Kim Dae-gi, Chief Presidential Secretary, stated regarding the issue of contaminated water discharge from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, "We have been continuously monitoring about 90 locations in our adjacent seas, and so far there have been no problems."

Chief Secretary Kim made these remarks on the 24th during a session of the National Assembly's Steering Committee, adding, "We are also expanding inspections of seafood and doing our best to ensure public safety."

He further explained, "If the contaminated water is not properly treated and is simply discharged, the people who would suffer the most are the Japanese themselves," and added, "We expect the discharged contaminated water to arrive in 4 to 5 years."
