A public official in Haman County, Gyeongnam, was referred to the prosecution without detention on charges of receiving money from a contracted company.
According to the Haman Police Station on the 24th, official A is accused of receiving 1.5 million won from a company representative last September at the office of a construction company in Gyeongnam under the pretext of providing convenience.
Official A, who is in charge of sewage treatment, was responsible for supervising the construction ordered by the county office at the time.
The company handed over the money asking for convenience in preparation for complaints that might arise during the construction carried out under a contract with the county office.
The police received a related complaint from Haman County in March and launched an investigation, and during the police investigation, official A admitted to the charges.
A police official stated, “We identified additional offenses by A, but no further crimes were confirmed.”
Haman County plans to initiate disciplinary procedures against official A depending on the results of the investigation.
