On the 24th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk conducted an inspection of 37 women's public restrooms and 10 women's safety emergency bells installed along the Geumosan Ollegil Trail, in collaboration with the Women's Friendly City Citizen Participation Group and the Gumi Police Station.

On this day, 44 members of the Gumi City Women's Friendly City Citizen Participation Group (Chairperson Kim Sang-mi) were organized into 8 inspection teams and, together with the Gumi Police Station 112 Situation Room, checked the activation of warning lights and alarm sounds, as well as whether notifications to the 112 Situation Room were functioning properly.
They also thoroughly inspected the installation of safety emergency bell signboards and the hygiene conditions of the restrooms, planning to replace or repair any equipment requiring maintenance.
The women's safety emergency bell is a voice recognition system installed to alleviate anxiety and prevent crimes for vulnerable groups such as women and children using public restrooms. In case of an emergency inside the restroom, pressing the emergency bell or detecting abnormal sounds such as screams triggers an immediate police response.
Hwang Eun-chae, Director of the Family Childcare Division, stated, “Through continuous inspection of the safety emergency bells, we will prevent malfunctions in advance and do our best to create a safe environment where citizens can use public restrooms with peace of mind.”
The Gumi City Women's Friendly City Citizen Participation Group was established in 2014 and has been working to create a gender-equal city enjoyed by all citizens through monitoring activities and feedback reflecting a gender-sensitive perspective on safety emergency bell inspections, public facilities, parks, and roads. In May, the 5th term of the Citizen Participation Group, consisting of 44 members, was newly appointed and will continue to actively work for a women-friendly Gumi.
