‘Bohae Soju Plogging Center’ Opens in Mokpo, Jeonnam

Bohae Brewery has opened the nation's first 'Bohae Soju Plogging Center,' specializing in plogging experiences, and is launching a full-scale 'SMALL ACTION' campaign.

The 'SMALL ACTION campaign' is an initiative to protect the sea where the salt, a raw material for Bohae Soju, is harvested. It stems from the belief that small interests and actions can protect the ocean.

The campaign was launched through a pop-up store in Dongmyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, which opened on the 12th, and it is expected that more people will participate in plogging and take an interest in marine environmental protection activities with the opening of the Mokpo Bohae Soju Plogging Center & SMALL ACTION Store on the 25th.

The 'Bohae Soju Plogging Center' is located at 217-1 Haean-ro, Mokpo-si, about a 5-minute walk from the Mokpo Passenger Terminal. The Mokpo Passenger Terminal is visited by most tourists heading to islands in Jeollanam-do such as Heuksando and Hongdo, with an annual visitor count of 200,000.

Bohae opened the plogging center here so that visitors waiting for their boats at the passenger terminal can participate in plogging during their waiting time.

Additionally, tourists heading to the islands can receive plogging kits and participate in plogging while sightseeing. Among participants, those who upload photos of their plogging activities on Instagram with the hashtag 'pickup_bohae' will be entered into a draw to receive plogging-related goods.

The plogging center also exhibits 'Sea glass' artworks.

Sea glass is created when glass discarded in the sea is broken and weathered by waves, displaying various shapes that showcase the charm of upcycled goods.

Besides this, a photo zone decorated with Bohae Soju and other elements will serve to raise awareness about the importance of the marine environment.

The Bohae Soju SMALL ACTION Store is a space where various goods are produced using trash collected from the plogging center.

Located near the Bohae Brewery headquarters on Honam-ro, Mokpo-si, the Bohae Soju SMALL ACTION Store demonstrates the process of marine waste being transformed into goods and artworks.

Through this, visitors learn the importance of the sea and naturally experience how small actions like picking up trash can contribute to protecting the ocean.

The space is expected to be operated as an open area freely available to anyone wishing to protect our precious sea, including seminars related to the environment.

Meanwhile, the Bohae Soju Plogging Center and SMALL ACTION Store will operate until December 31, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. without holidays.
