The Gyeonggi-do Bio Cluster Activation Task Force has been launched.
On the 24th, the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency announced the launch of the 'Gyeonggi-do Bio Cluster Activation Task Force' at the Suwon Gyeonggi R&DB Center, with participation from Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH), Suwon City, Korea Bio Association, Korea Bioeconomics Society, Korea Institute of Public Administration, Gyeonggi Research Institute, Sungkyunkwan University, Ajou University Medical Center, Daily Partners, CJ CheilJedang, and others.
The task force will be responsible for establishing an innovative bio-belt and fostering future growth bio seed companies (startups), with the vision of Gyeonggi-do becoming the center of bio innovation in South Korea.
To this end, it will establish field-oriented hub activation strategies through regional industry capability analysis, create a foundation for innovation opportunities by utilizing idle land, attract bio companies, and secure specialized personnel. It will also provide full-cycle support for the growth stages of regional bio companies.
The task force plans to continuously discover and support key hubs that will lead the future technology dominance by linking bio industry bases distributed across the province, including the Gwanggyo Bio Cluster, Siheung, Goyang, and Paju.
Additionally, it will conduct the 'Study on Activation Measures for Gyeonggi-do Bio Industry Innovation Ecosystem' and the 'Study on Activation and Utilization of Idle Land in Gwanggyo Technovalley' by November.
Kim Hyun-dae, Director of the Future Growth Industry Bureau of Gyeonggi-do, stated, "We will prepare in advance and actively support so that the policies derived through the Gyeonggi-do Bio Cluster Activation Task Force can have execution power."
Kang Seong-cheon, President of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, emphasized, "We will focus our capabilities on fostering the growth of Gyeonggi-do companies and strengthen cooperation for inter-regional and inter-industry linkage."
Gyeonggi-do maintains the number one position nationwide in the bio industry in various indicators such as the number of industrial bodies, workforce, investment scale, and production value.
In particular, the Gwanggyo Bio Cluster, home to more than 200 bio companies, is a concentrated hub of bio research capabilities, with a very solid foundation for bio innovation from the perspective of research platforms including universities, hospitals, research institutes, and companies.
