Incheon’s First Municipal Nursing Home to be Completed in September... Dementia Care Room and Guest Room Provided

Opening in Dorim-dong, Namdong-gu in March next year

Incheon Municipal Nursing Home will be completed in Dorim-dong, Namdong-gu, this September and will open in March next year.

According to Incheon City on the 24th, the municipal nursing home, the first of its kind in the region, will be built with a budget of 14.8 billion KRW, consisting of three above-ground floors with a total floor area of 3,000㎡. The first floor will house office facilities and a dining hall, while the second and third floors will be designated for nursing and treatment facilities.

The nursing home will have a capacity of 104 residents and is scheduled to open in March next year after completing the selection of the entrusted institution and other preparatory processes.

The city plans to provide high-quality long-term care services to elderly residents suffering from geriatric diseases and offer systematic, customized care tailored to the characteristics of dementia patients. In the event of an infectious disease outbreak, a dedicated infection control zone will be operated to prevent internal spread.

Additionally, the city will prepare guest rooms within the nursing home to allow residents and their families to stay overnight together, helping them adapt to the facility.

The municipal nursing home will feature convenience facilities such as a rooftop garden and walking decks, which are expected to enhance residents' physical activities as well as contribute to their psychological stability.

Kim Ji-young, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of Incheon City, said, "We expect the municipal nursing home to play a pioneering role in securing publicness in elderly care and treatment," adding, "We will do our best to ensure smooth preparation for its opening."
