National Library of Korea, 'Exhibition of French Goncourt Prize Winners'

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s National Library of Korea and the Embassy of France in Korea will jointly hold the exhibition “The Bold World of French Literature, Winners of the French Prix Goncourt” from May 25 to June 25 in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the National Library of Korea’s main building.


The exhibition will showcase over 80 works that have won the French Prix Goncourt, one of the world’s three major literary awards, along with the works selected by Korean readers for the “1st Prix Goncourt Literary Award in Korea.”

The opening ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on the 25th on the first floor of the National Library of Korea’s main building. It will feature congratulatory speeches by Jeon Byeong-geuk, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Philippe LEFORT, Ambassador of France to Korea, a string trio performance by the Korea Chamber Ensemble, and an exhibition explanation by Kim Bo-hyun, a lecturer in the Department of French Language and Literature at Korea University.


Jo Seol-hee, head of the International Exchange and Public Relations Team at the National Library of Korea, stated, “Through this exhibition based on literary sharing with France, we hope cultural exchanges between the two countries will become more active, and that it will serve as an opportunity to further enhance the value of the ‘K-Library Approaching the People.’”


Every Thursday at 3 p.m., detailed explanations of the exhibition will be provided as part of the ‘K-Library Approaching the People’ initiative, and shuttle vehicles will operate between the subway station and the library.
