In particular, expert opinions were gathered by inviting Professor Kang Ho-cheol from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Gyeongsang National University and Dr. Lee Jeong-hwan from the Ecovision21 Research Institute as advisory members.

The main topics discussed included ▲ azalea management methods (pruning, thinning management) ▲ additional cultivation methods such as azalea supplementation, transplantation, and cuttings for nursery production ▲ methods to create shade in the azalea colony ▲ utilization plans for nearby pine tree areas ▲ and ways to utilize vacant spaces within the azalea colony.

An official from the county stated, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic over the past three years, the number of visitors to Hwangmaesan has significantly decreased, and it is true that azalea blooming was poor compared to previous years due to low temperatures and strong winds during the flowering period. We will make every effort to find ways for efficient azalea management and to prepare alternatives to revitalize Hwangmaesan.”

He added, “Through this consultative meeting, we will continuously discover projects that can revitalize Hwangmaesan through expert advice and cooperation among related organizations.”
