Park Dongsik, Mayor of Sacheon, Visits Sacheon River Flood Prevention Project Site

Status of the Goeup-Yesu Bridge Project and Progress

Park Dong-sik, mayor of Sacheon City, Gyeongsangnam-do, personally visited the Sacheon River Sacheon District river disaster prevention project site to conduct a safety inspection during the rainy season.


On the 22nd, according to Sacheon City, Mayor Park received reports on the project status and progress of the 'Sacheon District River Disaster Prevention Project' and the 'Goeup~Yesu Bridge (Jungno 1-16 Line) Project,' and listened to difficulties along with conducting a safety inspection.


The Sacheon District River Disaster Prevention Project aims to increase flood control and flood defense capabilities of the Sacheon River and improve convenience for residents. Construction began in April 2020, with completion targeted for September 2024.

The Gyeongsangnam-do Water Resources Department is investing a total project cost of 35.04 billion KRW to create river maintenance (L=3.8km), 15 drainage structures, and 2 bridges.


The current progress rate is 65%, with plans to complete the Yesu District embankment towards the Aerospace Theme Park by March 2024 and construct the Yongdang 2 Bridge by September 2024.


The 'Goeup~Yesu Bridge Project' is being promoted by the Urban Department of Sacheon City.


To prevent traffic congestion caused by the large-scale apartment construction in Goeup and Yesu-ri, Jeongdong-myeon, and to alleviate citizens' inconvenience, a budget of 6.5 billion KRW is being invested to install one bridge connecting Goeup-ri and Yesu-ri.


The city expects that once the Sacheon River Sacheon District River Disaster Prevention Project is completed, habitual flooding damage in areas adjacent to the Sacheon River and traffic inconveniences will be resolved.


Mayor Park said, "Safety must come first during the rainy season, and we must do our best to ensure there is no inconvenience to residents. In particular, please do your utmost to prevent poor construction during the project implementation."
