Continuous Drunk Driving: 23 People Caught in One Day on Saturday in Gyeongnam

Gyeongnam Police Agency Conducts Day and Night Drunk Driving Crackdown Around School Zones

On the 21st, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced that it conducted a drunk driving crackdown at 37 locations across the province on the 20th, apprehending 23 drunk drivers.


According to the provincial police agency, the drunk driving crackdown during the spring outing season was carried out around local festival sites, major tourist attractions, highway entrances and exits such as Dongchangwon and Seojinju interchanges, and Munsan rest area.


Traffic police officers numbering 69, 3 local police officers, and 54 patrol cars, including the provincial police undercover patrol team, highway patrol unit, and officers from Geoje Police Station, were mobilized.

As a result of this crackdown, 17 people had their licenses revoked and 6 had their licenses suspended, including a man in his 50s who was driving a white passenger car in a state of severe intoxication in Gohyeon-dong, Geoje City, around 11:10 PM that night.


Going forward, the provincial police agency plans to deploy mobile crackdown teams to conduct special crackdowns around school zones such as children protection areas in urban districts and maintain continuous drunk driving crackdowns at local festival sites.


They intend to implement not only nighttime crackdowns but also random daytime crackdowns to prevent loss of life and property damage caused by drunk driving.
