Gyeongbuk Province announced that the sales of the agricultural specialty product shopping mall ‘Saiseo’ reached 10.2 billion KRW as of the end of April, marking a 38% increase compared to 7.4 billion KRW during the same period last year.
By product category, sales of agricultural and livestock products such as Korean beef, apples, and rice amounted to 7.4 billion KRW, showing a 25% increase from 5.9 billion KRW in the same period last year.
Sales of processed foods with high added value, including red ginseng processed products, sesame oil, and fruit and vegetable beverages, reached 2.8 billion KRW, an 87% increase from 1.5 billion KRW in the same period last year, highlighting the remarkable growth in processed foods.
This achievement is attributed not only to the effects of consumer-tailored marketing such as regular events (Monday and Wednesday special discounts), spring picnic, Family Month special exhibitions, and WBC cheering coupon issuance, but also to various collaborative projects including the Small Business Subscription Economy Support Project led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, NH Nonghyup apple and Korean beef discount events, and congratulatory coupon support projects from the Gyeongbuk Province Health Policy Division.
In particular, a major success was achieved by integrating shopping malls that were operated at the city and county levels into a province-wide platform to revitalize online distribution, which is a key pillar of the agricultural food industry’s major transformation emphasized this year.
By managing membership, registered products, payment, and settlement in an integrated manner, systematic customer response and system management have been realized. Through integrated marketing, promotional budgets were reduced, and market channels were expanded by entering affiliated malls, achieving low-input, high-efficiency marketing.
Currently, Gyeongbuk Province has integrated 16 city and county shopping malls and plans to complete the integration of all city and county shopping malls by the end of this year.
Kim Ju-ryeong, Director of the Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “We thank the customers and producers who helped Saiseo achieve results despite internal and external adversities such as high inflation and economic recession,” adding, “We will continue to expand cooperation with other organizations and customer-tailored events to make Saiseo a mainstay of the agricultural food industry’s major transformation.”
