Jaguar Land Rover to Launch Range Rover Electric Vehicle Next Year... Jaguar to Withdraw for 2 Years

‘Reimagine’ Strategy

Jaguar Land Rover announced its electrification plan through 2030 and revealed its strategy for the Korean market on the 18th.

Leonard Hoornik, Jaguar Land Rover CCO (Chief Commercial Officer), disclosed the goal of becoming an electric vehicle company by 2030 and explained the 'Reimagine' strategy. The company plans to invest approximately 25 trillion KRW over five years. The UK Halewood plant will be converted into a dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility. The electric Range Rover will be launched next year. A pure electric mid-size SUV, to be included in the Range Rover lineup, will also be released in 2025. The company also announced plans to achieve positive net cash flow by 2025 and double-digit operating profit by 2026.

Land Rover electric vehicles will be produced based on the Electric Modular Architecture (EMA), a dedicated electric vehicle platform. At the same time, the existing MLA platform will be maintained. For Jaguar, vehicles will be built on the Jaguar Electrification Architecture.

According to this strategy, Jaguar Land Rover Korea will also introduce electric vehicles to the domestic market. Robin Colgan, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Korea, stated, "At the end of this year, we will launch the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover Velar plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)." Starting next year with the electric Range Rover, the company will unveil Range Rover electric vehicles equipped with the EMA platform for the first time. Electric versions of the Defender and Discovery will also be introduced.

As part of the preparation process, the company will temporarily suspend sales of Jaguar models from the second half of this year until 2025. Instead, it will transition to a Direct to Customer agency model.
