Guro-gu Launches Senior Health Management Project Using AI Smart Health Measurement Devices
Targeting 300 Seniors Aged 65 and Over... Health Management by Experts in Various Fields for 6 Months
Utilizing Health Measurement Devices and Health Management App ‘Oneul Geongang’... Customized Mission Setting and Achievement Support
Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) is promoting a senior health management project using smart devices.
Guro-gu announced on the 18th, “With the increasing elderly population, we have established a health management service to support healthy aging for seniors,” adding, “We recently recruited 300 seniors aged 65 and over and are accelerating the full-scale implementation of the project.”
The district has designated senior health management using artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) as a key project among the pledges of the 8th elected administration, keeping pace with the changing health management systems in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
In October last year, Guro-gu was selected for the ‘AI · IoT-based Senior Health Management Project’ led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, securing national, city, and district budgets to establish infrastructure including personnel and equipment.
The ‘AI · IoT-based Senior Health Management Project’ is a program utilizing the ‘Oneul Geongang’ app, and for those without smartphones, a screen-type AI speaker is provided so that anyone can participate.
Visiting nurses classify health status by group (healthy group, pre-frail group, frail group) through face-to-face measurements of blood sugar and blood pressure, dietary and chronic disease surveys, and provide four types of smart health measurement devices (smart band, blood pressure monitor, blood glucose meter, scale).
The devices have Bluetooth functionality, allowing measurement results to be automatically transmitted to the app for continuous monitoring of seniors’ health status.
Seniors receive personalized missions based on their health, such as taking medication on time, walking daily, and measuring blood pressure and blood sugar. Upon achieving these missions, they earn points. Seniors with high points can receive health management products worth approximately 20,000 KRW.
For seniors who find it difficult to use the app, one-on-one smartphone usage training is provided, and participants who complete the 6-month activity will be given a smart band (activity tracker) to encourage participation.
To ensure stable establishment and long-term operation of the project, health changes of participants will be measured and satisfaction surveys conducted after the program ends.
A Guro-gu official stated, “Efficient health management will be possible through non-face-to-face services without spatial and temporal constraints,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to improve senior health and prevent chronic diseases.”
