Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will hold the multicultural family cooking contest event 'Cook Representative' at the Seodaemun Women’s Room Center Shared Kitchen from 9:30 AM to noon on the 20th in celebration of the 16th 'World Multicultural Day.'

The district organized this event under the supervision of the Seodaemun-gu Family Center to allow multicultural families in the area to showcase their native dishes, communicate with each other, and foster mutual cultural understanding.

On this day, 9 teams composed of marriage immigrants and their families and friends from six countries including Taiwan, Vietnam, Egypt, Japan, China, and Thailand will participate.

Each team will cook dishes such as China's Malatang, Vietnam's Goi Cuon (spring rolls), Egypt's Koshari (rice bowl), and Thailand's Moo Satay (pork skewers) as part of the contest. Prior to the event, the district supported each team with 100,000 KRW to prepare ingredients.

Once the dishes are completed, expert judges will select outstanding teams and award gift certificates worth 300,000 KRW for first place, 200,000 KRW for second place, and 100,000 KRW for third place.

Following the contest, all participants will taste the dishes, and a multicultural family meeting themed 'Wishes for Seodaemun-gu' will be held.

Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “We expect this cooking contest to be an opportunity to boost the pride of marriage immigrants in their home countries and to enhance multicultural acceptance within the local community.”
