Pohang City will hold the "2023 Pohang Sea Rose Festival" on the 20th at Yeongildae Rose Garden, where roses are in full bloom, under the theme "Be Like a Rose Every Day."
Now in its fourth year, this festival is organized by Pohang City and hosted by the Rose Lovers Association. Unlike last year's festival held in autumn, this year it has been rescheduled to May as a pre-event of the Pohang International Fireworks Festival.
The Sea Rose Festival will start at 11 a.m. without any separate preliminary events, allowing visitors to tour the rose garden guided by rose interpreters according to the scheduled times.
Additionally, side events such as public busking, cotton candy sharing, and rose-themed photo shoots will be available, enabling visitors to enjoy various experiences and participation programs. A Greenway photo exhibition will also be held to enrich the event venue.
Yeongildae Rose Garden, covering an area of 4,500㎡ with 42 varieties and about 5,600 rose bushes planted against the backdrop of the sea, has recently renovated its aging pavement and facilities to welcome visitors with a more vibrant appearance.
Pohang City manages the garden systematically to bloom roses three times a year?in May, August, and October?and operates an LED rose garden in the middle of winter, making it a year-round rose garden.
A Pohang City official said, "We are preparing various programs so that citizens can unite through roses and encounter them in their daily lives," adding, "We will ensure thorough preparation to make the event substantial so that both citizens and visitors can create precious memories."
