Representative Designate Lee Kyung-jin
Explains 'Kakao i Cloud' Strategy
"Committed to Technology Advancement Aiming for Global Top Tier"
Kakao Enterprise is advancing technology to achieve world-class expertise in the cloud sector.
On the 16th, Kakao Enterprise held a press briefing at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in Samseong-dong to introduce the business strategy and core competitiveness of Kakao i Cloud. At this first briefing focused on Kakao i Cloud, the newly appointed CEO-designate, Lee Kyung-jin, personally presented the growth process, core competitiveness, and business goals and strategies for this year.
Lee announced that on the 31st, they will officially launch a global-level multi-availability zone (AZ). Multi-AZ is crucial for enhancing the fault tolerance and availability of applications. It enables a design that minimizes the impact on services even if one availability zone encounters issues, supporting stable usage as a core technology.
Lee introduced Kakao i Cloud’s goal as ‘Beyond the Cloud,’ explaining that they will focus on the essence of the cloud to create a cloud that is easy, familiar, and cost-effective for developers.
To this end, they plan to target the high-performance premium market based on three core competencies: ▲stability ▲scalability ▲high availability. The high-performance premium market refers to companies and institutions in various fields such as gaming, medical, pharmaceutical, AI, and blockchain that wish to adopt high-performance and high-availability cloud services.
Last year, Kakao i Cloud significantly improved cloud performance through technological cooperation with Xilinx, which merged with the US semiconductor company AMD. Together, they developed the smart network interface card ‘SmartNIC.’ Applying this has resulted in more than a twofold reduction in power consumption and operating costs compared to before.
Lee expressed confidence in their technology, stating, "We have intensely researched and analyzed the technology and development directions of domestic and global clouds internally, and we are confident in the technological capabilities of Kakao i Cloud today."
He added, "This year, we have set a goal to become a global top-tier player in the cloud field by continuously advancing technology and aim to be reborn as a cloud ‘all-rounder.’ We will strive to form a fandom so that developers and engineers can use Kakao i Cloud ‘in a Kakao way’ easily and familiarly and develop the ecosystem together."
Meanwhile, Kakao Enterprise officially announced the launch of its cloud in January 2021, supporting digital transformation by flexibly and easily connecting various corporate cloud infrastructure environments such as public, private, and multi-cloud. In July 2021, it obtained the Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) certification, providing specialized cloud services and infrastructure environments tailored for public institutions. The following February, it also acquired the Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification to protect key information assets.
