On the 15th at 3 PM, Busan City announced that the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) conducted an on-site inspection of the venue for the ‘2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships’ located at BEXCO in Busan.
On the 15th, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) conducted an on-site inspection of the venue for the '2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships'.
About 20 people attended the on-site inspection, including ITTF President Petra S?rling, Yoo Seung-min, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships, and Busan city officials.
President Petra S?rling listened to the Organizing Committee’s (hereafter, the Committee) plans for the Busan event, inspected detailed aspects such as the Field of Play (FoP) layout and flow lines at BEXCO, the competition venue, and stated, “I am very impressed with the preparation status of the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships. I hope the Committee and the ITTF will cooperate closely during the remaining period to ensure the event is well-prepared so that players, spectators, and media can all be satisfied and enjoy the tournament.”
Chairperson Yoo Seung-min also expressed confidence, saying, “We ask for continued interest and support for the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships. The Organizing Committee will do its best to finalize detailed operational plans and work closely with Busan City and the ITTF to host a successful event.”
A Busan city official stated, “To prepare thoroughly for the 2024 Busan event, we plan to directly observe the 2023 Durban tournament in South Africa in May to carefully review operational aspects. As this is the premier international event held in Busan since the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to preparing a tournament where everyone can unite and enjoy.”
Busan originally secured the world championship event for 2020, but the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, causing setbacks. Since this event is a re-hosting after overcoming those difficulties, the determination to successfully hold the tournament is stronger than ever.
The ‘2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships,’ held over ten days from February 16 to 25, 2024, at BEXCO in Busan, will be the first World Table Tennis Championships hosted in South Korea. Approximately 2,000 players and officials from 40 countries in both men’s and women’s categories will participate. This prestigious international table tennis event also features 16 tickets (8 each for men and women) for the 2024 Paris Olympics at stake.
