First Introduced in 2013... 100,000 New Users in the Past Year
Cumulative Certifications Approximately 6.86 Million, Total Climbs 6.26 Million km
Black Yak's Black Yak Alpine Club (BAC), the largest outdoor community platform in Korea, has surpassed 400,000 members.
Black Yak announced on the 16th that BAC's membership exceeded 400,000 as of early last month. This means that 100,000 new members have joined in about a year since surpassing 300,000 in February last year.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, BAC was launched in 2013 with the idea of creating a community for people who love mountains. During this period, BAC members have accumulated approximately 6.86 million verifications, and the total climbing height has reached about 6.26 million kilometers.
BAC operates various programs as a platform for outdoor communication spanning all generations from teenagers to people in their 90s, using mountains as a medium. Representative programs include ‘Myeongsan 100’, which has produced 12,853 finishers, ‘Seom&San’ that climbs mountains on islands meeting the sea, and ‘Clean Mountain’, where participants pick up trash while hiking. Additionally, the large-scale outdoor festival ‘BAC Club Day’, which offers opportunities for trekking in the Himalayas, is held annually. All BAC hiking programs are GPS-based for verification, and BAC coins are awarded based on the height of the climbed mountain, which can be used in stores, providing an enjoyable and healthy hiking experience.
A Black Yak official stated, “Various programs and systems have created synergy, establishing BAC as the undisputed largest outdoor community in Korea,” and added, “We are very pleased that BAC can help firmly establish a healthy hiking culture within a nature-friendly lifestyle.”
