Average Daily Power Consumption Reduced by 63%
CU announced on the 16th that it has pilot-introduced fully enclosed refrigerators to reduce electricity consumption.
This test is a task to improve the refrigerated sales system. By introducing fully enclosed refrigerators with double doors, CU will measure the electricity-saving effect and also verify food safety maintenance and user convenience.
All refrigerated products that were displayed in open refrigerators, such as ready meals, dairy products, home meal replacements (HMR), side dishes, fruits, and vegetables, can be sold in this fixture. The temperature inside the fixture can be uniformly maintained below 5 degrees Celsius despite external temperature changes.
CU installed fully enclosed refrigerators at the CU Jang-an Tourist Hotel branch last month. As a result of measuring electricity consumption, the average daily power consumption decreased by about 63% compared to the existing fixtures. CU plans to install additional fully enclosed refrigerators at other locations during the first half of the year and verify their effectiveness.
A BGF Retail official said, “We expect to reduce power consumption through the introduction of new fixtures while enhancing convenience for customers and franchisees. Going forward, the franchise headquarters will continue to focus on improving profitability by introducing differentiated products and services to increase store sales, as well as making various efforts to reduce costs.”
