The Waterworks Office of Namwon City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 15th that it recently conducted a joint public-private water quality inspection for the first half of 2023 to actively communicate with citizens regarding water quality testing tasks and to ensure transparency and reliability in tap water quality verification.

The joint public-private water quality inspection in Namwon City, conducted twice a year in the first and second halves, involves citizen representatives who are members of the tap water quality evaluation committee participating together in the water quality inspection process, including sample collection at Wolrak Water Purification Plant and tap water in Namwon city. This participation secures the stability of the water inspection and enhances the credibility of the inspection results.
This water quality inspection is conducted according to the number of tests and items stipulated in the "Regulations on Drinking Water Quality Standards and Inspections."
The inspection items include 8 items for river water (raw water), all 59 items at Wolrak Water Purification Plant (treated water), 11 items at 6 priority management areas, 4 items at 19 tap locations, and 10 items at 4 aged pipelines.
An official from the city stated, "The results of this water quality inspection will be announced to citizens through the city hall website, just like the monthly water quality inspections," and added, "The Waterworks Office will continue to communicate and build consensus with citizens to alleviate their vague concerns about tap water."
