SK Chemicals Collaborates with Comex to Develop Low-Carbon, High-Transparency Sealed Containers

Applied with High-Performance New Material Enhanced for Impact Resistance

SK Chemicals, together with Comex Industrial, has developed a sealed container ‘Eco Clear (ECO CLEAR)’ that considers the environment using sustainable materials.

On the 15th, SK Chemicals and Comex Industrial announced the launch of the sealed container ‘Eco Clear,’ made from a new material ‘ECOZEN Pro,’ which enhances the functionality of SK Chemicals’ eco-friendly bio-material ‘ECOZEN.’

The newly introduced sealed container ‘Eco Clear’ means a transparent (CLEAR) container made from SK Chemicals’ ECOZEN material, reflecting the product’s characteristics in its name. Combining the transparency of glass and the unbreakable advantage of plastic, ‘Eco Clear’ is made entirely of ‘ECOZEN’?from the body, lid, to the handle?except for the silicone packing, allowing clear visibility of the container’s contents from any angle.

The ‘ECOZEN Pro’ used in ‘Eco Clear’ is an upgraded material with improved impact resistance compared to the existing material. It contains no concerns about harmful substances such as Bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalate-based plasticizers, which are classified as endocrine disruptors. It also boasts excellent heat resistance, stain resistance, and chemical resistance, ensuring that even highly acidic kimchi, spices, or oily ingredients can be stored for a long time without odor absorption or discoloration. Moreover, it can be manufactured into sealed containers that do not deform even in environments like dishwashers.

In particular, the carbon dioxide emissions during production are about one-third of those of other plastics, and using 3.3kg of ‘Eco Clear’ has the effect of planting two-thirds of a tree.

‘Eco Clear’ will be sold not only through home shopping but also on the official online shopping mall ‘Comex Mall’ and various offline stores including department stores and E-Mart.

Comex is a kitchen and household goods specialist company with 52 years of tradition, producing and selling sealed containers, rubber gloves, water bottles, tumblers, and more. In addition to this collaboration on sealed containers, Comex plans to expand cooperation with SK Chemicals on tumblers, refrigerator water bottles, and other products.

Gu Ja-il, CEO of Comex, said, "It is time to consider the environment by using sustainable materials even for kitchen household goods. Through this collaboration with SK Chemicals, we have launched the more eco-friendly kitchenware storage container, Eco Clear." He added, "We will continue to introduce diverse products that consider not only functionality and design but also the environment."

Kim Eung-su, Head of the Green Materials Business Division at SK Chemicals, stated, "As the issue of plastic greenhouse gases is emerging, domestic and overseas customers are increasingly interested in carbon dioxide reduction materials. Based on the development of Eco Clear, we plan to expand the excellence of ECOZEN from consumer goods to various industrial materials."
