Research Alume analyzed on the 15th that the demand for functional ingredients is increasing in various fields, and BioFDNC is expected to benefit from this trend.
BioFDNC is a plant cell specialized company established in 2005. It has secured the world's largest collection of over 250 plant cell lines. Patents have been registered for some 30 plant cell lines that produce useful substances. By manufacturing and selling effective substances as cosmetic ingredients and finished products, the company succeeded in turning a profit in 2011, six years after its founding.
Kim Doyoon, a researcher at Research Alume, explained, "The demand for functional ingredients will expand from existing cosmetic companies to perfume and health functional food manufacturers. Since the ingredients are produced through plant cells rather than mature plants, uniform quality and stable supply are possible."
He added, "It can provide solutions to issues related to natural environment conservation. As interest in ESG management grows, it can emerge as a key partner for major companies across various industries."
Researcher Kim analyzed, "Among the over 250 cell lines owned by BioFDNC, there are candidates capable of extracting useful substances needed for health functional foods. The company also possesses technology to manufacture alternative meat using protein extracted from soybeans."
He further stated, "Globally, about 20 clinical trials of plant-based biopharmaceuticals are currently underway, and 17 products are on the market as industrial and research enzymes." Additionally, "In the long term, BioFDNC plans to operate a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) business and will provide new options to bio companies using plant materials through a platform that extracts effective substances from plant cells rather than mature plants."
Research Alume presented a 'positive' stock price outlook for BioFDNC along with a target price of 23,300 KRW.
