Gyeonggi Office of Education Conducts Full Survey of 205 High-Cost English Academies for Young Children

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is conducting a focused crackdown on illegal cases involving some English academies for young children that are controversial due to high tuition fees.

On the 12th, the Gyeonggi Office of Education announced that it has formed a special inspection task force led by Han Jeong-suk, the 2nd Deputy Superintendent, and has been conducting a full survey of 205 English academies for young children operating more than 4 hours within the province from the 3rd of last month to the 24th of this month.

Through this special inspection, the Gyeonggi Office of Education will focus on checking ▲ violations of using similar names such as young children's English academies ▲ false or exaggerated advertisements ▲ excessive collection of tuition fees ▲ the status of native speaker instructor employment, and will take strict action if any illegal or unlawful cases are detected.

Han Jeong-suk, the 2nd Deputy Superintendent of the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "English academies for young children are academies, not kindergartens established and operated for early childhood education," and added, "We will continuously monitor through special inspections to prevent causing anxiety among parents or excessive tuition fee collection, thereby protecting parents from damage."
