Sejong City is helping social enterprises enter the public market and expand their public procurement sales channels.
On the 12th, Sejong City announced that it held the '2023 Social Economy Public Procurement Matching Consultation' at the city hall.
The consultation was organized as a meeting place between purchasing officers from 69 departments including the city hall, affiliated organizations, the education office, and schools, and representatives from 23 social economy enterprises active in the region.
At the site, booths promoting and selling products and services of social economy enterprises were also operated. At the booths, customized one-on-one purchase consultations between public institutions and local social economy enterprises facilitated public-private linked sales support.
A total of 68 customized consultations were conducted between participating companies and public market demanders (institutions) on the day.
Sejong City aims to enable the public sector to prioritize purchasing social economy enterprise products and services worth 7.8 billion KRW this year, using the consultation as an opportunity.
Lee Jun-bae, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Sejong City, said, “We hope the consultation will support the expansion of sales channels in the public procurement market for local social economy enterprises and lead to the spread of value-based consumption by public institutions.”
Meanwhile, social economy enterprises is a concept encompassing social enterprises, village enterprises, cooperatives, and self-support enterprises.
