Road Corporation "Donggunpo IC Entrance to Gangneung Direction Fully Closed from the 16th"

Blocked Until September 15 Due to Construction Safety Reasons

Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 12th that from midnight on the 16th until September 15, the entrance ramp to the Gangneung direction at Donggunpo IC on the Yeongdong Expressway will be completely closed.

The entrance ramp to the Gangneung direction at Donggunpo IC passes under the section of the Yeongdong Expressway expansion construction (Gunpo 1 Overpass) currently underway, and the Expressway Corporation explained that closure is unavoidable for safety reasons.

The Yeongdong Expressway expansion project (from 6 lanes to 8 lanes) aims to alleviate congestion caused by the rapid increase in traffic volume between Seochang JCT and Buksuwon IC. Construction began in April 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

Accordingly, vehicles intending to enter the Gangneung direction via Donggunpo IC should use the route via National Road 47~Gunpo IC or Bokhapmulryu-ro~Bugok IC.

The Expressway Corporation plans to provide continuous information on the upcoming work and traffic conditions through the Variable Message Signs (VMS), and will guide detour routes on the expressway traffic information app and the Road Plus website.
