BPA and Romania Constan?a Port Authority Sign Mutual Cooperation MOU

Busan Port Authority (BPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation in the field of port logistics with Constan?a Port Authority in Bucharest, Romania, on the 10th.

The MOU signing ceremony held at the Romanian Prime Minister's Office was attended by Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister of Korea, who is touring Europe to strengthen cooperation networks with European countries and to attract the 2030 World Expo to Busan, and Nicolae-Ionel Ciuc?, Prime Minister of Romania.

Through the MOU, the two port authorities agreed to cooperate on ▲sharing experiences and information on port development and operations ▲increasing cargo volume between ports and jointly developing logistics infrastructure.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Busan Port Authority and Romania Constan?a Port Authority is underway.

Romania is geographically important in terms of logistics flow within Europe as it is located at the terminus of the Danube River canal. Constan?a Port is the largest trading port connecting Central and Eastern Europe with the Black Sea coast, handling various types of cargo including bulk and containers.

In particular, about 140 million tons of cargo that were handled at Ukrainian ports have been transferred to Constan?a Port following Russia's invasion, increasing its role significantly.

Nicolae-Ionel Ciuc?, Prime Minister of Romania, visited Busan Port Authority on December 22, 2022, along with the Speaker of the National Assembly, sharing the status and know-how of Busan Port's construction and operations, and expressing willingness to cooperate with Constan?a Port.

Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, "With the development of manufacturing industries in neighboring countries and the recent situation in Ukraine, the logistics hub function of Constan?a Port in the Black Sea region is increasing," adding, "We will strive to ensure practical cooperation between the two ports through this MOU."
