Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint inspection with city and county governments to prevent food poisoning at 1,843 daycare center cafeterias until the 30th of this month.
This inspection is a joint effort involving childcare departments from 31 cities and counties.
Gyeonggi Province warned of a strong inspection due to concerns about mass food poisoning incidents at daycare centers caused by the recent rise in temperature.
The main inspection items include ▲ use and storage of expired or easily perishable foods ▲ compliance with storage standards for ingredients and prepared foods ▲ hygiene and cleanliness management in the kitchen ▲ cleaning and disinfection management of dining facilities and utensils ▲ storage of preserved foods ▲ personal hygiene management including wearing hygiene caps ▲ hygiene management in ingredient storage, cooking, and serving.
Gyeonggi Province plans to collect and send foods deemed at risk of causing food poisoning during the inspection to the Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment for testing.
Jung Yeon-pyo, head of the Food Poisoning Prevention Team in Gyeonggi Province, said, "We will strive to create a safe educational environment for children through joint inspections with city and county governments to prevent food poisoning," and urged, "Please be sure to practice the three key food poisoning prevention methods at home: washing hands, eating cooked food, and boiling food."
Earlier, on the 10th, Gyeonggi Province held the '2023 Food Poisoning Prevention and Management Measures Meeting' with participation from the Gyeongin Food and Drug Administration, the Office of Education, city and county governments, the Institute of Health and Environment, and related organizations to prevent the spread of food poisoning.
