Namwon City in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 11th that it will operate special transportation services for free on the 15th in celebration of Family Day.
The free use of special transportation services is implemented on this Family Day (May 15) in accordance with the "Ordinance on the Operation of the Jeollabuk-do Special Transportation and Metropolitan Mobility Support Center" to promote the welfare of persons with disabilities and realize universal mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups.
The city previously offered free use on Disabled Persons Day and Children's Day on the 20th of last month, receiving positive responses from users of the special transportation services.
In accordance with the Act on the Promotion of Convenience for Transportation Vulnerable Groups, the service is operated to facilitate mobility for those who experience severe difficulties in transportation. Currently, the city operates 11 special transportation vehicles, including 10 special transportation vehicles and 1 leased taxi, under consignment.
Special transportation services can be used by making a reservation call to the Metropolitan Mobility Support Center or by applying through the Namwon City Mobility Support Center on a first-come, first-served basis.
A city official stated, "We provide 24/7 transportation support services for transportation-vulnerable groups to guarantee their mobility rights and convenience. We hope that the free operation on Family Day will raise awareness of the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable groups and help create a more convenient transportation environment."
