Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the "5th Premium Hangang Rose Festival" in Jayang 3-dong on the 20th.
Now in its fifth year, the Jayang 3-dong Rose Festival is a representative local festival loved by people of all ages. It offers a variety of pleasures along the alley fence filled with thousands of rose blossoms. Last year, it attracted great popularity with about 1,500 attendees.
This year's Rose Festival is organized by the Jayang 3-dong Cultural Event Committee (Chairman Jang Guk-hwan) and sponsored by the Jayang 3-dong civic groups. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the passageway between Hyundai Apartments 6 to 8, and anyone interested can participate.
Especially this year, it captivates the audience with even richer fun. The festival atmosphere is heightened by a variety of threefold pleasures: sights, activities, and food.
Various experience booths will be operated along the event path. ▲Balloon Art ▲Character Tattoos ▲Origami ▲Sock Yarn Crafts ▲Traditional Korean Sweets Making are prepared. Additionally, traditional games such as Jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock kicking), Ddakji Chigi (folded paper tile flipping), and Tuho (arrow throwing) can also be experienced.
At the community center and the stage at the event entrance, a "Youth Busking Performance" will take place. Local residents will donate their talents by performing harmonica and piano music to delight the ears. For food, popular snacks among children such as So-tteok So-tteok (skewered rice cakes and sausages), twisted doughnuts, Korean pancakes, fermented skate, and acorn jelly will also captivate the tastes of the elderly.
Furthermore, from 11 a.m., the "Children's Drawing Contest" will begin. With themes of dreams, roses, family, and our neighborhood, children can freely express their imagination on white drawing paper. On-site registration is accepted for the first 100 children aged 5 and above.
In addition, participants can look forward to a wordplay contest "Gaga Hoho Red 休" and a "Donation Relay" for creating the Rose Village. Visitors can take commemorative photos at photo zones installed intermittently and also enjoy an exhibition of rose art made by students.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "To welcome the rose season in May, we have prepared a joyful festival for the residents," and added, "I hope many people participate to appreciate the beautiful roses and enjoy the fragrant moments."
